Figure in an Interior
Nude figure has served as a subject in art since antiquity yet it is as relevant today as ever. Unlike many artists who depict this subject, I am not interested in the nude as an anatomical study or as an erotic object. Rather, I aim to capture beauty and dignity of the quotidian moments in life, which often go unobserved and unrecorded. I contrast organic forms of the nude with geometric shapes of the furniture to generate compositional tension. I utilize chiaroscuro technique to emphasize the play of light and shadow on the body. While figures are depicted in contemporary interiors, I use light and composition to create a sense of timelessness.
